Martin Scott A retired undercover agent recounted what he experienced as a narcotics agent.

Scott started out as a police officer and a Chaplain and he would bring in seized drugs to the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigations (BCII).

In 1971 he got his big break when he was promoted to a narcotics agent.

Becoming an agent” I would have thought it was a suit and tie job”, said Scott.

Being a chaplain saved Martin Scott a few blows to the face more than a few times during his career

During his time as an undercover agent Scott had had to use many aliases to cover his tracks one of those names was Marty Flowers Scott’s personal favorite.

In addition to these names he also had to dress differently and change his appearance to play a part in different cases that he was put on to assist.

Thinking back on his different personas he had he likes to say “if [I] have t so say so myself I looked good”, said Scott.

When he started working as an undercover narcotics agent Scott said “when you’re [in] undercover narcotics/organized crime you better be an actor and you better be good”.

He would be working on cases for long periods of time, for an example one case he worked he was on the job for 12 weeks. In his entire career that was the longest period of times he was on a case.

If someone is coming into this field of work they to be willing to be flexible with their schedule. They have to be willing to go and be on the job for long periods of time no matter where it is.

After retiring as narcotics agent Scott worked as an organized Crime agent, which is similar to the work he did as a narcotics agent” I really loved it, it was still working undercover”, said Scott.

Scott had a passion for his career and loved what he did.
